HNTRISM wants you to know about RYU, Respect Your Universe. Why? Because they embody the spirit of one being their authentic self, which HNTRISM believes in and strives to help HNTRITES embrace. RYU provides stylish, innovative gear for the urban athlete and sincerely cares about their customers.

2018 World Retail Awards Finalist in Two Categories

Respect Your Universe recently was selected as a 2018 finalist for the World Retail Awards in two categories: Retail Start-Up of the Year and Social Media Campaign of the Year (#RYUOneMoreRep). And deservedly so. They have created customer-centric programs that seem so logical and straightforward. No retailer has been mindful enough actually to do it. RYU genuinely have put the customer’s needs first by providing meaningful ways for their customers to better themselves. They implemented their “Up-Down” program which provides incentives to their customers who either lost weight or gained mass over the previous year due to dedication and training.

Respect Your Universe's agenda

RYU has an agenda, and HNTRISM LOVES agendas. Why? Because agendas, when used in a meaningful and impactful way, create change in a positive way to better people, community, and society. For example, in November of 2017, RYU created “One More Rep for Mental Health” campaign to raise awareness of mental illness. They created a dialogue about the issues, open lines of communication and demystified the stigma of mental illness. Respect Your Universe attacks issues that aren’t necessarily “safe” and address them ways that stay authentic to their “soul.”

Respect Your Universe Walks the Talk

HNTRISM loves brands like RYU because they walk the talk. So we wanted to shout their story from the HNTRISM rooftop, so you are in the know. Their appeal, their culture, their community involvement, their innovative initiatives reflect their “purpose” for existing:

“RYU was built on the fundamental understanding that we are multi-faceted and multi-disciplined. It’s about respecting your choices, individualism, and journey. It is knowing at our core that we are all connected and that it’s our differences that make us extraordinary. And human.”

HNTRISM proudly salutes RYU for their exceptional philosophy of being true to their customers. We're also proud of RYU for using their brand for the good of the community.

We call on all HNTRITES to check out RYU and support a brand that you can be proud to patronize.

Strathberry - Meghan Markle's Luxury Tote Of Choice Fashion

Strathberry - Meghan Markle's Luxury Tote Of Choic

Strathberry - Meghan Markle's Luxury Tote Of Choice

The It Bag That's Hard To Keep In Stock

Christopher Conrad

July 13, 2018

Do you have a fetish for luxury? Do you want to be the first of your friends to grab the latest luxury tote? HNTRISM is once again excited to tell our HNTRITES about another beautiful brand with passionate roots. HNTRISM presents Scottish leather goods company Strathberry. Strathberry was founded in 2013 by husband and wife team Guy and Leeanne Hundleby.

Guy and Leeanne were inspired by local leather artisans while on holiday in Spain. They resigned from their production and finance jobs to enter the world of fashion, despite having no experience. No matter! HNTRISM loves their passion for “clean lines and strong aesthetics." This vision is what drove them to create what would become the "luxury tote of choice" for the new member of the British royal family, Meghan Markle.

Strathberry East/West Mini in Bottle Green

Scottish roots

Where does the name Strathberry come from? The couple kept to their Scottish roots. “Strath” is Scottish Gaelic meaning “wide river valley.” “Berries” were a nod to the use of berries to dye materials in Scotland. Hence, the name Strathberry was born.

At first, Guy and Leeanne ran the company from their home. To expand and provide luxury bags to their ever-going global following, they raised funds through Kickstarter. This exposure allowed them to sell their version of a premium, well-crafted luxury tote to customers around the world.

Strathberry East/West Stylist in Black

Quality design

Strathberry has separated themselves from the competitive world of leather bags with their distinctive designs and signature metal bar. The price is relatively reasonable for a luxury tote of this level of quality. With her sophisticated style where less is more, its no wonder that the American born royal has been spotted carrying Strathberry bags multiple times during official appearances.

Recently, Leeanne said of the royal visit to her homeland, “We are delighted that the Duchess of Sussex chose Strathberry for her début official overseas visit to Dublin, the third time she has carried our brand. She looked so chic and sophisticated, and it was particularly special for me being from the Emerald Isle.”

Strathberry Midi Tote in Tan Bridle Leather

Cheers to Guy and Leeanne Hundleby on their success and taking the chance to enter the world of fashion, since their bags have become quite the "it" bag recently. Additionally, Meghan Markle isn't the only one that was spotted with a Strathberry on her arm. Celebrities including Julianne Hough and Lady Gaga have also been spotted carrying the iconic Scottish luxury tote.

As soon as Meghan makes an appearance with a Strathberry bag, they sell out quickly. The Tri-Color Midi tote that Meghan carried last year sold out immediately. There are a couple of different color variations of the Midi Tote that are available. However, Meghan's bag in Tan Bridle Leather will be restocked soon. These totes have been hot!

Check out these Strathberry bags!

Acne Studios, From Swedish Rocker to All Things Fashion

With Swedish Fashion Powerhouse Acne Studios

July 10, 2018

Acne. Acne? What? Strange name for a fashion line. Right?! Well, Acne Studios is one of the hippest brands in the world. Being smart, Jonny Johansson, one of the founders, said he liked the idea of "appropriating a difficult word" and making it fresh. Acne stands for Ambition to Create Novel Expression. One has to admit his cleverness has paid off with having over an estimated €200 million a year.

Inspired by the Arts, including Warhol

Johansson grew up in northern Sweden as a guitarist in several rock bands. In his youth and years that followed, he was inspired by Warhol and influenced by art, design and literature and music. In 1997, Johansson crafted 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with distinctive red stitching. He gave these jeans out to friends and family. And before they knew it, they had a hit on the hands with editorials in Wallpaper* and French Vogue.

Keeping It Strange

To keep their mystique and ingenuity, Acne Studios have opened retail stores in a converted garage and a former bank. Believe it or not, the bank is the location where hostages were held in 1973 and the phrase “Stockholm Syndrome” originated. The global fashion house has stores from Antwerp, Beijing, Berlin, and Copenhagen to Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, and Paris, to name a few. All the Acne Studio store feature ready-to-wear for men and women.

Acne Studios has launched a collection of related companies as well. These companies include Acne Film, Acne Advertising, and Acne Digital. Johansson has created a Scandinavian fashion and entertainment powerhouse that influences global culture.

Does your underwear have an agenda? Fashion

Does your underwear have an agenda?

Does your underwear have an agenda?

Christopher Conrad

May 12, 2018

I have to admit, I wasn’t so sure about the concept of ladies underwear that look like mens underwear. But when I heard about TomboyX, I was intrigued. So I asked my dear friend Ellen about the concept. I was quickly admonished. She said, “HELL YES! That is an awesome idea!” And she hadn’t even seen them yet. Come to find out (I just didn’t know, ok), that woman have a horrible time finding underwear that fits correctly and is comfortable. Ellen actually buys boy’s boxer briefs.

So here is the deal. Fran and Naomi founded TomboyX based on the following premise: “to fill a need that had gone unfilled for far too long.” They asked themselves “How hard can it be to make good underwear?” They define good underwear as “underwear that fit regular bodies and fit how we saw ourselves. And underwear that any body could feel comfortable in, regardless of where they fell on the size or gender spectrum.”

Here’s the cool part! They have an agenda. That’s right, AN AGENDA. And its awesome. It ties right into their brand and it reminds their customers every time they wear a TomboyX garment. Fran and Naomi wanted to remove the negativity for which “tomboy” sometimes receives and create something positive. Its brilliant how they did it. They simply added an “X” to TommyBoy. Why? Fran and Naomi say it beautifully:

It’s an agenda that’s signed with an X

That marks the spot, seals it with a kiss,

And crosses out the negativity and infighting

that we’ve all had to deal with for far, far too long.

It’s an agenda that wants nothing more and nothing less

Than for our common language to be respect

And our national anthem to be HELL YES.

This isn’t an activist agenda

This is a human agenda

We are all people

HNTR applauds Fran and Naomi for not only creating something cool, fun and needed, but for using their retail platform as a positive influence for our society. To help us accept and respect others and ourselves.

Check out their amazing products! Here are a few that would be wonderful holiday gifts and stocking stuffers.

Maintain Your Sense Of Individuality At The Office Fashion

Maintain Your Sense Of Individuality At The Office

Maintain Your Sense Of Individuality At The Office

Keep your style while wearing that suit

Katie Martin

February 21, 2018

Office dress codes are designed to bring decency and uniformity to the workplace. When followed correctly, individuals would see the need to respect the rules of engagement at the office. However, it is possible to maintain your sense of individuality at the office while obeying the dress code. You would not have to put on animal print shirts or padded bras to look different. You could even wear the buttoned-up shirts or classic shirts with trousers – and look smart. Here are a few tips to help you maintain your sense of individuality and stand out. And do so while following office dress code rules.

How To Maintain Your Individuality At The Office

Wear what gives you Comfort

At first glance, an employer should notice how confident you look and how this will translate to your work performance. Your performance at work is what matters, and this would be boosted by how comfortable and confident you are in your dressing. If pantsuits do not work for you, you could opt for skirts or dresses. Do you love bright red lipstick? By all means, dress in a way that makes you feel good and does not just look like someone who is doing all she can to impress her boss with her dress sense (office dress sense maybe?)

In truth, the dress code rule is no longer as strict as it used to be. This is 2016! Of course, it is best for you to go back to the rules to confirm the dos and don’ts of the office. Are accessories allowed? What type? You would need to use your judgment to determine what you can wear in a serious work environment. One unique accessory at a time could be ideal. It could be possible for you to put on your favorite necklace, earrings or bracelet and still maintain the dress code.

Most work environments that have specific dress codes for employees do not dictate the colors that must be put on. Hardly do companies enforce the use of uniforms anymore. Times have moved on. Your work wardrobe should not be limited to particular color combinations. A variety of cloth types such as a suit, shirts, and dresses along with different color combinations that make you look smart would be ideal. Now you can style away with your tans, grays, browns, floral print pants, a yellow dress, a pink blazer, and blue pumps. As long as these colors make you feel good. With a beautiful dress style and color combination, you would even feel more fulfilled doing your job at the office.

While you want to stand out, always stick to a reasonable budget that will not run down the notes in your pocket. It is possible to bend the dress code rules – and still keep your employer proud and happy with your work – and you.

Is Corduroy Making A Comeback? Fashion

Is Corduroy Making A Comeback?

Is Corduroy Making A Comeback?

Corduroy- The Hottest Trend This Season

Monica Winters

November 29, 2017

As the season is about to change and every fashion clothing brand is launching their latest collection for Fall, the fabric which seems to feature in designers’ aesthetics is corduroy. This retro textile seems to be the most inspiring and hottest tend this winter because of its warmth and the large choice of colors. It was all over the runways in the form of jackets, flares, pants or skirts. Corduroy evolved from an ancient cotton weaving technique known as ‘Fustian’. Egyptians were using it as early as 200 BC. The name means ‘King’s Cord’ in French. Which is amusing because this fabric seemed to be more connected with kid’s clothing than to royal attire. Designers are making use of the reliability, affordability, and comfort of this fabric staple.

The fact that corduroy is a "winter fabric" is far from the truth. Corduroy comes in a wide range of styles;  pure cotton or cotton and poly blend, lightweight or heavy, basic or nonbasic colors or with the small or full Wales. This versatility makes it a playful fabric choice for the seasoned fashion designer. If we look at 1970s fashion, we will find corduroy comfortably worn in the form of skirts, pants, and jackets. They look fabulous without much excessive designing or embellishing efforts. The same idea is taking this fabric to the runways of the prominent fashion weeks and top brands’ production. Devoid of too much intricacy, chic comfort and freedom are all that this fabric depicts. Despite its upright texture and lack of romance, the huge come back of this material in Fall 2017 in burgundy, chestnut and vibrant yellow hues have started to catch on. For those who look for more formal and sophisticated look in the frosty weather can go for Mulberry’s maxi skirts in Corduroy. Marc Jacobs’ blood red flares with trimmed jackets in this fabric are head-turning.

Ordinary men and women, however, are perplexed whether to take a chance and embrace this firm, thickly woven, unsexy and notoriously hard- to-clean fabric trend or find some other solution to this! You must bear in mind that fashion and reason have nothing to do with each other, and you may let your wild imagination run far ahead and think of ways how to get along with this madness of corduroy while keeping up your style statement.

To make the best out of this trend, you must buy the best quality of cotton corduroy as it’s not only comfortable and delicate but also inexpensive. You can shop the fabric which has a lush pile and beautiful quality sheen and drape so that its beauty does not fade even after many washes. The most common use of corduroy is its casual trousers which feel more comfortable than Denim jeans because of their soft texture. The broader wales are frequently used in designing unique and less formal outfits whereas Pincord corduroy in Khaki, black or dark brown are acceptable as business casual. The rest of the shades are the youth favorites
