Ok gents, here is your beard care guide that is easy and quick. You’ve gone through the pain of growing out your beard and shaping just the way you like it. Men’s Easy-to-Follow Daily Skincare Guide

Our Handy Guide Will Keep Your Face Looking It’s Best

Christopher Conrad

March 27, 2019

Gents, taking good care of your skin is no longer something you need to keep secret. You can be proud and come of the closet and tell the world “Yes, I use skincare products and even exfoliate!” It takes a real man to admit how he gets his handsome and youthful looks. LOL.

In all seriousness, in today’s fast-paced, on-the-go, social media bombardment world, it's difficult to even just simply wash your face and shave. However, if you just add approximately five extra minutes each morning to your “getting ready” routine, you will be amazed at how much better your skin will look over time. Implementing a good skincare routine with the right products will help you look younger as well. In addition, those five extra minutes of “me” time, to do something just for you, may also help your mental state.

Let's begin!

When choosing any product, be sure to look at the ingredients list. Avoid products with alcohol in the first five or six. Look for Salicylic Acid instead. This ingredient helps remove oils and dead skin cells. By all means, look for natural ingredients. One more thing to note, drink water. Water helps hydrate skin from the inside out!

DAILY (Morning and Evening)

Cleanse

You already do this, hopefully! So, you actually are not doing anything different. However, the product you use to cleanse your face may make a big difference in how your skin looks. Use a quality cleanser, not bar soap. Also, try not to use cold or hot water as both may cause broken capillaries. Check out these products that will be a great beginning to your skincare routine.

BIOTHERM Homme Cleansing Gel (Normal Skin)

Cleanse your skin with the power of French mineral spring water from the Pyrenees with Biotherm Homme. This gel cleanser’s formulation uses a mineral-rich concentrate from thermal spring water to gently cleanse the skin without over drying it. Perfect for use before shaving for an even closer shave.

The importance of quality sunglasses

Protect your vision for years to come while looking great

David B Garrard

September 7, 2018

When I was younger, I never understood the importance of wearing quality sunglasses. Mind you, I thought they were a great accessory to have, but I didn’t understand why on earth I should pay top dollar for something that I’m just going to lose or break. My threshold seemed to be $10. If I spent any more than that, I’d sit on them, they’d fall out of my pocket, or I’d step on them. Sunglasses that were $10 and under seemed to last forever. I could get whatever I needed from a street vendor in the East Village.

Sunglasses look fantastic, or at the very least they should, given that they come in practically every size, price, shape and color imaginable. Apart from all that, do we need to wear sunglasses? Can’t we wing it with a pair of designer knock-offs and a baseball cap? The short answer is no.

I did some research to obtain some intel on precisely why quality sunglasses are vital, apart from the evident truth that when wearing sunglasses, you don’t need to scrunch up your eyes as much when the sun is beaming down. Wearing sunglasses is worth any racing stripe tan lines that they might leave behind. After all, you should be wearing some sun protection on your skin, but we’ve already stressed the importance of that.

Quality Sunglasses

The Retina inside of your eye is a delicate instrument. Over time, most people develop macular degeneration, which is caused by UV damage caused by exposure to the sun over a long period. A good pair of quality sunglasses will help shield UV rays, protecting your eyes for years to come. Cataracts are another vision concern as we age, and wearing a good pair of sunglasses can help shield the eyes from sunlight exposure, thus slowing the formation of cataracts later in life.

Just like sunscreen, a quality pair of sunglasses should have an adequate amount of both UVA and UVB protection. UVA can accelerate the aging process. UVB can trigger cancer cell growth. Don’t be fooled by cheap sunglasses that claim to offer UV protection. Often, the amount of protection provided is negligible. You get what you pay for when you invest in a more expensive pair of quality sunglasses.

Just knowing how much I spent on a high-quality pair of glasses has instilled this paranoia in me that I’m going to do everything in my power to keep them intact. I keep them in the case whenever they’re not in use. I only bring them out when I’m wearing them (and the case comes with me). Those suckers aren’t going anywhere.

Quality Sunglasses in Sand

There are plenty of shade options when it comes to lenses. Lighter shades are great for low-light situations, like driving at dusk. Darker tint shades are great for wearing in the afternoon when the sun is in full glow. The level of tint is a matter of personal preference. Just make sure that they contain broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, and you should be good to go. Polarized lenses are an excellent option for reducing glare, which comes in handy when driving. Scratch-resistant lenses are a must if you want to keep your lenses free from annoying dings. They're hard to see through.

There are an endless amount of frame options from which to choose. Don’t be afraid to experiment a little with your shades. Invest in a good pair of quality sunglasses. You’ll end up with an accessory that showcases a bit of your personality. And you’ll also protect your vision for years to come.

A Hot And Sweaty Guide To Deodorant

Stay Fresh Without Staining Your Shirt

David B. Garrard

June 12, 2018

I must confess that I hate deodorant. I've hated it ever since I tried out a new brand that managed to peel off a layer of skin in my armpits. No thanks. My armpits don't need a chemical peel. I'm happy with my armpit skin the way it is.

But on the other hand, I hate smelling of BO, especially when I'm trying to look respectable at the office. So, the nose wins. I use deodorant when I need it.

During the summer, I find myself often needing it. I'll use it if I'm wearing a light colored shirt. Date night? You better believe it. Also, most deodorants are formulated so that they won't leave those dreaded stains on your shirts. We love the formulas below because none of them will force you to decide between sweatiness or stains—just swipe 'em on, and you're safe from both. And save the chemical peel for another day.

Make It Last - Extend The Life Of Your Razor

Simple Ways to Extend The Life of Your Razor

Katie Martin

February 16, 2018

Shaving is a daily routine for many. And obviously, a major component of the daily shave is the razor. With the ever-increasing costs of quality products, the razor is surely not forgotten. They are convenient, they do the job, but they do not come cheap. It can be really frustrating to use a razor only a few times to discover that the blade is now blunt or dull. If this is the case, you may soon find out that you would need to constantly replace your blade. This is not good news for your wallet. How do you store and maintain your shaving tool? How do you ensure it lasts you a long, long time? Here are a few tips.

Keep it Dry

No one wants to use a rusty and dull blade but we often overlook this crucial step. The first and most important tip is to keep the blade dry. You could use a hair dryer to dry the blades. Blow the blades for a few seconds if this is possible or dry it gently with a towel. The aim is to keep it dry before it gets stored.

Almond, Baby Oil or Alcohol

You could gently apply baby oil or almond oil on your shaving blade – this would provide a protective layer for the blade and increase its lifespan. Cleaning your blade with alcohol is also a great way to boost its lifespan. Razors normally contain the buildup of soap and shaving residue along with dead skin cells which can make the blade dull and shorten its lifespan. Alcohol is especially useful for people suffering from acne or those with sensitive skin.

Handling of the Oil

For sanitary purposes, it is best to change the oil you use once in a while. Also, do not just shave after taking your razor out of the oil so you do not negate the effects. Rinse the razor to take out as much oil as possible so you do not get any weird feeling while shaving.

Storage

When you store your razor in a moist environment, the blade will eventually go dull. So you could consider storing your blade in a different room other than your steamy bathroom or in a safety cabinet. This will prevent moisture from reaching the blade.

The Effective Jean Trick

Does your blade feel worn out, dull or blunt already? This popular technique will definitely come in handy. Place an old pair of jeans on a flat surface, and run the razor up and down the surface of the jean with the head of the razor towards the direction you are applying the force. You could go on for about 20 times or so – the fibers of the jean will help take out any moisture and sharpen the blades.

Shaving 101 - Asbury's Guide To Getting A Close Shave

Try these simple tricks to get the best shave possible

David B. Garrard

November 21, 2017

A close shave does not have to a chore. Women, and yes, some of you guys, choose to shave multiple areas. Each area has its challenges, such as the thickness of the skin and hair coarseness. But, once you select the appropriate instruments and products for those particular areas, getting a close shave will be smooth and simple to follow. And, your skin will thank you!

The right shaving techniques, quality shaving products, and post-shaving skincare can help men and women look and feel both clean and fresh. If you know how to shave, then you can turn this chore into a pleasurable morning ritual.

If you want to get a close shave, follow these steps:

Choose the right razor. There are many razors available that you can use when shaving but make sure that you choose the one with added precision for a close shave. Don’t skimp on cost. Cheap, dull blades can wreak havoc on your skin.

X1 Razor and Stand by Bolin Webb

Keep your skin safe by keeping your razor safe. This shave set has a brass frame and provides a twist to open butterfly head for easy blade replacement. And it has a balance of 3.0 ounces. The pure badger shaving brush features hand-selected brush knots.

$75

Do the necessary pre-shave routine. Wash the face or any particular area that you wanted to shave. Use a high-quality cleanser to remove oil and dirt from the skin's surface. Washing the face also stimulates the skin, opens up the pores and helps soften the hairs on the face before shaving.

Citrus Facial Wash by Perricone MD

Citrus Facial Wash by Perricone MD

Developed with Dr. Perricone's exclusive Vitamin C Ester, this non-drying face wash eliminates surface area pollutants and residue while boosting the skin's radiance, tone, and appearance. Reveals the skin's all-natural brilliance as well as a healthier-looking skin tone.

$30

Now that your skin is squeaky clean, it's time to apply a high-quality shave cream or shave soap. Don't even think about squirting a chemical laden, cheap-o shaving cream that you picked up at the local drugstore. The chemicals and preservatives in those concoctions can dry out and irritate the skin. You're about to drag a sharp object across your face, so show your skin some love. Prep your skin with a pre-shave oil to let the blade glide gently across your face and avoid razor burn.

The Standard Pre Shave Oil by The Gentlemans Refinery

"The Standard" Pre-Shave Oil by The Gentleman's Refinery

The Gentlemen's Refinery pre-shave oil is created for every skin type, no matter the beard structure. Utilizing The Gentlemen's Refinery pre-shave oil enhances your shaving experience as well as immeasurably reducing post-shave skin problems.

$25

Shaving Soap No 1 by Le Baigneur

Shaving Soap No 1 by Le Baigneur

Le Baigneur Shaving Soaps are made manually in a soap manufacturing facility utilizing the standard cold process technique. The plant oils and butter are kept cold, retaining their beneficial healing properties while maintaining the efficiency of the soap making procedure. Naturally occurring glycerine from the cold process technique is eventually held in the soap (7 ~ 8%), for a mild cleaner that is moderate on your skin's surface.

$23

Hold the razor correctly. Depending on the type of razor you are using, there are ways you need to follow as to how you should hold a blade the proper way. If you press the razor correctly, then you can expect a smooth shave. It is not recommended to apply too much pressure when shaving since this can cause irritation and ingrown hairs.

Shave in the right direction. During the first pass, try to shave with the grain. This means you need to shave downward, in the direction that your hair grows. If you’d like an even closer shave, then shave against the grain or shave in the opposite direction that your hair grows.

Shave the face or any desired area until smooth. It takes several passes to capture all the hair on the small perforations of the razor head. It pays to be patient when going over a particular area. You also need to keep in mind that it is not right to put excessive pressure on the razor when shaving.
